Use these weight loss bible verses to help you achieve your goals if you need motivation for losing weight. When I am struggling with cravings or I see people bring desserts to my house I know I have to rely on Godly insight to help me see that I really don't need the junk food in my body.
So what you are looking at is going to affect what you see. The whole point about this health ministry and the Bible verses are to help you look behind the scenes. We are distracted by what the eye can see which is a small part of what God can see. As Paul mentions in 2 COR 4: 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. So it is our choice to look into the spiritual truth first, then we can work our way back to the physical. Binge eating is temporary, we need to look at what is going on internally (what we are always thinking about) to understand our weakness and soon we desire a deeper spiritual hunger in knowing Godly wisdom is much more satisfying.
My problem is that I'm struggling with wanting something that I really don't need. Saying, "no" takes all the fun out. We know what's gonna mess up our emotions and make us feel tired and depressed which only makes matters worse.
In Philippians 4:9 we hear from the apostle Paul who say's and my God will supply all your needs. Notice is doesn't say wants.
Let's take a look at the story of David and Goliath
David and Goliath 1Samuel 17
Defeating the temptation of food is a very big problem as far as I'm concerned and a problem that is overwhelming BIG. This giant just will not leave me alone. I have to face this GIANT problem everyday. It is my Goliath. My goal is making the choice to take a stand against the enemy, junk food. It is out to destroy my mind and my life, not just my body. This one problem is connected to the rest of me. If I don’t see junk food as my Giant, it just might make me very sick, keep me from losing weight and kill me. I am determined to win. But how?
When we see repetition in a bible verse it gives us a clue that we need to pay close attention to a specific message. Looking at the story of David and Goliath we look at verse 26 and 36 when David made a point that the Philistine was not circumcised. David could see a problem bigger, beyond the size of (Goliath) the problem, beyond what the people could see with their eyes. David saw the spiritual and invisible problem, the root of the problem that was creating the real cause of destruction.
Before David picked up the slingshot and the stone there was a “SHIFT” in David's perspective. How he was looking at it. For example let me share a little story. A young boy was playing outside and lost one of his contact lenses and he quickly began scrambling in the dirt on the ground looking to find it for about 30 minutes. The boy in a panic runs in the house to tell his Mother. The Mother quickly runs outside to see if she can help her Son find the contact lens, and within two and a half minutes she found the contact lens.
The boy said, “Mom how can you have found my lens in that dirt in just 2 minutes when I was searching for it myself over a half hour? The Mother said, well Son it’s like this. We weren't actually looking for the same thing. You were searching for a contact lens, I was searching for Two Hundred and fifty dollars! LOL
So what you are looking at is the only thing you will see, until you turn your attention on your thoughts, behaviors and reasonings in your mind. In prayer we learn to focus on God and what we hear His voice say in our hearts. When it comes to weight loss we can reflect on our values and learn from the people who wrote those bible verses as strong examples of followers of Christ. Thus our mindset gets wiser and stronger and old desires (wantings) slip away, by the grace of God we lose weight we and get healthy in every area of our life.
Let’s look at the meaning of the word covenant. It’s important to remember that God works through divine ordained relationships to release His blessings throughout history to fulfill his plan. We must be under it in order to be part of it. Only David was under God’s covenant. The goal of a covenant is to cover us like an umbrella.
We need to first choose to live under God’s covenant to see God’s hand move in our life. God never moved first until we moved first. Just like God told Moses to go up the mountain to deliver the ten commandments, and how God told Moses to hold up His rod before he opened the Red Sea. God told Naaman to dip in the river 7 times before he healed him of leprosy. God told Peter to cast his net on the right side of the boat before his net was filled with so much fish that his net couldn’t handle the load. What is God's telling you to do?

God blessed us with giving us His name when we surrendered our life to live for Him. We are blessed under the covenant of God through Jesus and His name gives us power to overcome the giant attacks on our life. As we listen to the words David spoke we read: 1 SAM 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” God wants to protect you, but you need to move forward without fear of the giant. You can ask God for that kind of courage but you have to move and keep moving. Hesitation will not help.
We see that the weapons of the world are not fully dependable as the POWER of our mighty warrior Jesus. Are you determined and convinced that God can help you conquer your binge eating giant? Are you ready to make a stand and declare like David? “For the battle is the Lords”.
