This is your complete guide of how to be disciplined with food! How the bible teaches us about self-disciplineAre you looking for a bible verse about self-discipline for encouragement? I believe when it comes to making better food choices we can all use encouragement because food is all around us. Let's take a look at the book of Hebrews chapter 12 verse 11. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Boy oh boy, no discipline seems pleasant especially when it comes to putting aside some of our favorite food. It can seem impossible at first until we are willing to let the word of God in the bible change our perspective. Many of us have great difficulty learning to make decisions to change how we eat but God assures us in the bible that afterwards we will yield the peaceful fruit of righteousness. I remember how I cringed at the thought of being disciplined growing up. No one enjoys discipline as we look back at being raised by our parents.Growing up we felt constricted, ashamed and sometimes rejected. We wanted to do the opposite of what we were told because it was fun to see what we could get away with. I didn't see the need of being guided and protected instead I just hated to be told the right way or the wrong way of doing anything. What about self-discipline? Does it seem like most of the time when we get it wrong about eating healthy we think a lot to criticize ourselves? This is not the way to go about it, especially when it comes to changing our diet, in fact this is a good reason to renew our minds and start learning a new approach to be disciplined with food God's way. Renew your mind for self-disciplineThis message is all about renewing our minds based on self-discipline. We need to refocus on our eating behavior and not who we are or what we think people think about us. This is important because we have a tendency to believe the lies about who we really are as a person. God wants us to separate our behavior from labeling ourselves as to who we are. As Christians we belong to Christ and Christ is in us and he wants to transform us so we can live a useful and blessed life. For example: tell yourself today that you are not an over-eater but that you are tempted and have a weakness to overeat. Without discipline we stunt our growth. Why? Because when we have no control over food we are self-absorbed in our own fleshy desires and we are not thinking of including God in our life. We are so overly consumed with thinking about eating, we are not leaving room for God to teach us what’s important to him. We should be concerned with what's important to God as part of our partnership and personal relationship with him. I think for many of us we are so caught up in the moment we lack the consciousness to realize the risk of what tomorrow brings. Just like when we were kids and we were willing to take the chance to see how much we could get away with until our body begins to suffer. Somehow we wait until the physical pain becomes a wake up call. Even then some of us choose to shun the truth, we allow ourselves to be distracted and we pretend everything is gonna be alright, but in reality our hardships become worse. We think that doing what we feel like is easier, like eating junk food and overeating without creating boundaries is less stressful. Do we ever stop and think how God feels about our lack of discipline and caring about self-care? self-discipline quoteA Devotional About DisciplineIf we think of discipline in terms as being a punishment we miss the more constructive meaning of the word. Discipline is order, training, practice and study. Without discipline our lives were ineffective and full of food and mood chaos. Before we began to practice the principles in the Real Food ~ Real Faith Lifestyle Program our eating patterns and emotions were most likely way out of balance. We came to realize that there were other areas of our life that have been short of order as well. Discipline is a tool which produces self-respect and feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction. When we discipline ourselves we learn to strive to eat three moderate meals a day and we achieve emotional, spiritual and physical results which causes our spirits to sing. We sing praises to the living God who gives us the direction and correction we so desperately need ever so gently and quietly. The discipline of this Real food Real faith program frees us from the tyranny of self-will and self indulgence. As we develop trust in God we begin to see that the hardships and difficulties we face are a means for our spiritual development. Through them God has a way to make us humble and he helps us acquire self-discipline and strength. Self discipline is the fruit of self-control given to us through the POWER of the Holy Spirit. Our lives become changed in an orderly fashion according to God‘s plan and he blesses us with His peace. God’s discipline is connected to His delight in us, as His children. WE light up His heart! And like any good parent, His heart hurts when He sees anything or anyone that keeps us from shining by concealing our marvelous light. This includes when we consume too much food (or any substance) that fogs up our minds and inflames our body. How do you discipline yourself to eat healthyHERE IS MY TOP HEALTHY SWAP I EAT EVERYDAY FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE I love eating Thai food so rice is a good side that I enjoy. You can start with cauliflower rice and as an option you can mix 1 cup cooked brown rice to 2 cups cauliflower rice or just plain. Be sure when cooking cauliflower rice to not overcook it. Quickly cook the rice in a little butter or olive oil on the stovetop because riced cauliflower becomes softer and more tender the longer you cook it. As a rule of thumb, cook for about three minutes over medium heat and don’t use too much oil. Feel free to add fresh herbs and a tiny bit of squeezed lime for asian dishes. Try different flavors to spice up your life. I am excited to tell you that I worked for hours on making you a FREE GIFT to help you lose weight with God at the center.
