WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE ARTICLE 4 Steps To Stay Consistent When Trying To Lose WeightLet us think for a minute, could it be possible that we often fail at putting time aside to pray because we want to keep busy to avoid thinking too much? Have we been too busy without making it our intention to put our trust in God? If so, this is the result of working our way to be self reliant verses turning to God in prayer to change our emotional eating mindset. It could be because we fear weight loss failure. It could be because we feel guilty about how often we take refuge in food and the things we have done that make us not feel worthy. So where and how do we start to discover the idea of consistent weight loss? It begins with having faith that God makes it possible to transform and heal our soul, body, mind and spirit. See Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. STEP #1 Here’s how to pray for consistent weight loss
It's important to start by finding a special area to relax and sit down and not just think about your need to lose weight so you can fit into a smaller size clothing. Instead bring your inner struggles to God in prayer by writing him a letter. Share where you might find difficulty letting go of previous eating habits and beliefs. Track your current shortcomings by admitting your weaknesses to God. He knows your struggles and your areas of weakness. God hears the internal battle cry of yo-yo- dieting and he wants to set you free. There is freedom and healing in taking your weight loss struggles to God in prayer.
Next pray over that list of things you sincerely want to overcome and then reword the items as a praise. Praise him in your weakness and ask God to increase your desire to turn away from behaviors that are making the problems bigger in your life. For example, If you have a habit of eating when you feel an intense craving and you try to write out the problem you are facing. God tells us in the bible to ask him and believe. See Mark 11:24 Jesus speaks directly to us to ask and believe. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. I believe we should ask God to increase our trust in him and to not rely on food to make us feel better. We need to believe we can ask God to increase our desire to practice daily awareness of negative thoughts and impulses. If there’s inner hurt and pain or some kind of trauma impacting how you eat, thank God for his mercy and for the healing He provides through prayer. Prayer should not be put on the back burner because prayer is a gift that is freely given by God which is the ONLY pathway to peace. Don’t deny yourself and God the chance to see your faith in action. Be an action taker and press on. God will help you. He delivers His people when they seek Him in prayer when they are ready to come before him with a humble heart. When you are ready to see Him directing your steps by the way you eat, what to eat and how you eat then you will experience the fruit of self-control in your life. Faith is believing that God's power is REAL. Prayer and self-examination allows God to teach us wisdom. Without opening up to God and confessing our sins and putting all the cards on the table facing up, we stay stuck on food. One of the most important things we can ask God in prayer is to be "teachable". To be teachable means we are willing to let go of poor attitudes, thought patterns and habits. Typically when we don’t see results it’s because we’re holding onto poor attitudes because we lack the willingness for planning and preparation, which leads us to the next key of staying consistent when trying to lose weight. Step #2 PRAY ABOUT DAILY PREPARATIONPray about daily preparation. At the beginning of each week sit down and pray to God to guide you to make wise choices on what to eat. Create a checklist of your 5 TOP favorite meals and research online how to make them healthy. Now take out a small piece of paper that you’ll use as your guide for grocery shopping, cooking, eating out, and avoiding unplanned indulgences. “Having that plan helps you eat the right food. Include what foods are most likely your go to when you want that special treat. Figure out how you can make something healthy that is just as satisfying and that will not make you crave more. At the beginning of each day and just before eating a meal, praise God in prayer for these healthy options that are tasty foods that help you to lose weight and make it a commitment to practice eating these foods with consistency. Remind yourself of how good you’ll feel mentally and emotionally by treating your body with respect. I call this being your own best friend. Which takes us to the next key that keeps us feeling confident. Step #3 Be True to Yourself for Consistent For Weight Loss
Yes you heard me right, Be true to yourself
Now staying consistent with weight loss does not mean that your weight will not ever fluctuate to some degree throughout your life. It means you stop putting everything on the back burner and you make your health your top priority. Once you have made the choice to make your health your top priority and you keep praying to God to remove your desire to overeat and binge eat, you can be assured that the desire to practice unhealthy habits will slip away. When I think of being consistent with losing weight I think of words that come to mind about being honest with myself. Two words that come to mind are integrity and uprightness. We read in Psalm 25: 8-9 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. See consistent weight loss consists of putting on a new attitude to live a lifestyle built on what is best for ourselves because God wants the best for you! The bible us in Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. [God’s Grace] It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Step #4 Balance Your Blood Sugar to Stay Consistent While Trying to Lose WeightIn today’s society we see that there was a passion for food everywhere. There’s been an explosion of refined food and there’s been an explosion of fast food restaurants. People are going on cruise ships and eating tons of food at all you can eat buffets. Are we so caught up in our passion for food that we’re forgetting about what really matters? Now concerning balance many of us live a life that’s way out of balance beginning by not giving ourselves the rest that we need. We need balance in our life whether it’s some kind of an activity and not sitting on a chair or a couch most of the day. It’s important for me to pay attention to how I’m going to balance my blood sugar and that means I need to do this every day. Now if you don’t know WHY the name of my website domain is called www.crushsugarcravings.com it's because years ago around 2008, I decided that I was going to do away with sugar completely, especially that white granule stuff and any kind of junk food that was controlling my out of control eating habits. Gradually I got rid of all of the white stuff and all of the refined sugar from my home because I realized that it was causing my blood sugar to be out of whack which would cause me to CONSTANTLY crave food way too much. The next time you go to the grocery store you want to notice that 80 to 85% of all the food in the middle isles are all food that is refined in some way. So you need to keep track that you focus on consuming the right amount of lean protein, healthy fat and fruits and vegetables so that you can stay on a sustainable healthy way of eating. Final thoughts: The most important part is moving from knowledge to action. Take action to pray to God about consistency and your weight loss goals and while you are in prayer think about what ideas you have in mind to keep your priorities in the center of your life. Then ask God and yourself everyday, what you can do today to make your weight loss program one that you truly want to stay committed to.
